Michael Anderson

With more than 20 years of experience in the finance and manufacturing industries, Michael Anderson brings proven skills and expertise to his role as Chief Financial Officer at Thunderbird. He has thrived in high-level positions at national and international corporations, helping global companies transform their businesses through solid financial guidance. He has been heavily involved in strategy and business operations for rapidly growing companies going through transformational change.

Those skills will serve him well at Thunderbird. Michael will be responsible for the overall financial decision-making and will provide strategic financial input to senior leadership. He will oversee the accounting department at Thunderbird and supervise the company’s financial staff.

Michael comes to Thunderbird owning extensive experience in the finance and manufacturing industries. Most recently, he was CFO for the Americas at HARTING in Elgin, Ill., where he completely transformed and overhauled the finance department for the $91 million business that supplies industrial connectivity technology worldwide. He oversaw a staff of 10, including accounting and sales entity/plant controllers for the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. His leadership led to a 15% sales increase and 5% growth in earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) in 2018.

His earlier career experience includes roles as vice president of operational finance and analysis at AAR Corp. in Wood Dale, Ill., senior strategist of corporate strategy at Motorola Solutions in Schaumburg, Ill., and director at PwC in Chicago.

Michael earned a master’s in business administration from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management in 1997 and a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from University of Illinois in 1991. He has remained dedicated to developing his skills after graduate school, achieving several professional development certifications and accomplishments. He is Lean Bronze and Six Sigma Green Belt certified, is APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), and has completed the Wiley CPA exam review course.
