Robert Grimm

A results-driven problem-solver with decades of operational and financial experience in the manufacturing industry, Robert draws on his wealth of expertise to serve as Director of Finance at Thunderbird. He is the senior financial leader administering the finance and accounting functions while providing overall financial decision-making and strategic financial input to senior leadership.

In a diverse career, Robert has proven himself as an operating and financial professional who has accelerated value creation in both private and public company settings, ranging in size from mid-caps with $600 million in revenue to small-caps serving the automotive, industrial, aerospace, and defense markets.

Most recently, Robert was the chief financial officer for Kelco Industries, an engineered components manufacturer serving top-tier automotive, aerospace, and industrial OEMs. He provided strategic advisory and operational execution, helping the company overcome several years of financial underperformance, in a challenging pandemic environment.

Previously, Robert spent more than a decade at Sparton Corporation, a mid-cap public electro-mechanical manufacturer. During his tenure, Robert provided strategic business partnering services in the highly regulated aerospace, defense, and industrial markets. He held numerous operational and financial leadership roles, significantly contributing to a multiyear turnaround and growth strategy that culminated in a private equity transaction yielding 13x shareholder value. Prior to Sparton, Robert’s career experience included roles as general manager, divisional controller and plant controllership/treasurer.

Robert earned his Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management in 2007 and his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accountancy from Western Michigan University in 1991. He is Six Sigma certified and honorably served in non-commissioned and officer capacities in the Army National Guard.
